In this video I learned that holding down option when having a text selected and then using the side-to-side arrows adjusts the tracking, and the up-and-down arrows adjust the leading. Text wrap can be used to place images in the middle of paragraphs, which you can change the option so that the text wrap only affects the text underneath it. Command-J allows you to switch from page to page easily.
