Calligram

For my calligram project, I used the pen tool to create the lines that make up the flowers and the envelope, and also the rectangle tool to make the background color. For the text, I copied it from my letter and then outlined it so that I could work with each word individually. I then grouped each word and started placing it on the outer edge of the envelope. I then continued to place word by word in a spiral motion all around the entire envelope. I found my inspiration from Pinterest and immediately wanted to use it for this project because my letter talked about plants.

I really like the concept of the flowers coming out of the envelope. I think if you had left three lines of words for the outline of the envelope it wouldn't have the curve on the right-hand side. I can't really tell in the picture if you had used the words on the flowers. If you didn't I would have used the extra words from the letter and added it to the stems of the flowers. Overall it looks great.

The flowers and the envelope with your letter forming the lines work together very well. I also love the colors that you chose to go with. Overall, I love this and it is so nice to look at. I really love this project! I really like the minimalist style that you used, it is very aesthetically pleasing. I think you incorporated the text very successfully because you can still easily recognize the shape and understand the image!

This calligram is absolutely gorgeous! You did a fantastic job of creating a piece with a lot of elements that still comes off as minimalist and easy to look at. The differing thickness in lines between the envelope and flowers adds that essential bit of contrast that makes everything balanced. The work you put into this comes through very clearly, and you should be really proud of yourself! Beautiful job!
